he asked and I said yes…

It’s the day you have been waiting for your whole life, everyone from all over is coming to celebrate you and your future husband’s love. A day that you probably spent the past year or more planning, and you want to make sure you are picture perfect. Being a licensed aesthetician and specializing in bridal makeup, I created a time line to help you get your skin, hair removal and makeup wedding ready. Check it out below:

1 year til the big day:

Make an appointment with a licensed aesthetician. I know what you’re thinking, “A whole year before my wedding??? That’s insane!” But, trust me. Skin care is a commitment, and you need to make sure you trust your aesthetician to make the right decisions for your skin, therefore start shopping around for a spa, or medical facility that does skincare treatments and begin your skin care journey. If you already have an aesthetician you trust, you’re ahead of the game! Start getting those monthly facial treatments, and get ready to shine for those engagement photos, so your skin can glow on your save the dates on refrigerators everywhere!

6-9 months til the big day:

Do some research on bridal makeup artists. Start deciding on how you want to look and if you prefer airbrush or traditional makeup. I say 6-9 months, because makeup artists, especially during wedding season get booked up fast. You want to start doing your research, asking for recommendations and seeing if you can set up some trials to weed out different looks or different makeup artists.

3 months til the big day:

I don’t condone tanning, I think it’s awful for your skin and puts you at an extremely high risk for skin cancer. But, I do know that mostly every bride wears white or off white and sometimes a little bit of color looks nice, but with that being said, you should slowly start going now. Don’t wait until a few weeks before. I also don’t recommend getting your bridal trial until you’re where you want to be, tan-wise. Not only will your foundation color most likely not match but blush, bronzer, even eye shadows can appear off when your skin is darker than it was for your trial. Same thing with a spray tan, if you plan on going for a spray tan for your wedding, I’d recommend getting a spray tan a few months before so you can even see if you like it, and get your bridal trial then so the makeup artist won’t have to make any changes the day of and you don’t have to be stressed out.

2 months before:

If you’ve never waxed before, I suggest doing it now, to see how your skin reacts. If you have no problems, perfect! If you do, you have two months to get your skin back on track until the big day, and you can look into other hair removal options.

1 month before:

It’s crunch time! Make sure you’re doing your skin care routine every morning and night, drinking tons of water to stay hydrated and keep your skin glowing from within.

1 week before:

If you had no problems with waxing 2 months prior, get your wax. Always wax 5-7 days before so any redness or bumps can be gone by the time the wedding day hits.

keep calm and get your beauty sleep

night before:

Get plenty of rest, I know easier said than done coming from the person that didn’t sleep a wink on her wedding night! Drink tons of water, because you most likely won’t be drinking much water tomorrow! Make sure you do your skin care routine thoroughly. Put your eye cream in the fridge, if you have a jade or rose quartz roller, but that in the fridge as well.

Wedding Day:

It’s here! The day you have been waiting for! Cleanse your skin thoroughly, apply your eye masks. Remove the masks, and apply your facial serum with your jade or rose quartz rollers, and then your eye cream. Apply your moisturizer and have the makeup artist work her magic.
