makeup may come and go but clean brushes are forever

Cosmetic brushes are essential when creating a flawless makeup finish. Whether you’re using makeup brushes for just your face, or just your eyes, or both, or beauty blenders or sponges, you should be cleansing these tools very often. Makeup brushes and sponges are capable of harboring dirt, oil and bacteria. If you’re consistently using your brushes and/or sponges and not cleansing them, you will risk spreading all of that dirt, oil, and bacteria all over your freshly washed face over and over, which will definitely cause a break out, and cut the life of your most likely pricey brush’s life short.

If you’re unsure as to how to clean your makeup brushes, keep reading! I personally love brush cleaners that are solid soaps. Both Ulta and Sephora make them, I’m currently using the one from Sephora, called Daylogic Solid Clean: Solid Brush Cleaner. It looks like a balm of soap, tightly packed in a small container, and it comes with a small bright blue silicon pad.

❖ First: Grab the silicon pad, wet the pad, and then place the pad inside the cap of the cleaner.

❖ Then lightly lather up the brushes in the soap, and gently swirl the brushes on the pad to remove the makeup.

❖ When there are no colors (blush, foundation colors, eye shadow colors, etc.) dripping down into the sink anymore, very softly squeeze the excess water out of the brushes and lay them flat to dry.

I love cleaning my brushes this way because my hands almost never have to touch the soapy water or soapy brushes, and you can do multiple eye shadow brushes at once, so it goes very fast! Being a makeup artist, I not only have tons of brushes to clean, but I also have to do this extremely often to ensure my clients are always getting freshly clean brushes every single time, so cleaning multiple brushes at once is a big time saver!
