*Warning this blog post is completely “off-brand” compared to my previous posts.

If you haven’t heard, one of my all-time favorite television shows is coming to an end. Schitt’s Creek’s final episode will air tonight and I’m going to be so lost without these eccentric characters that have filled my home with laughter and entertainment.

“I’m trying very hard not to connect with people right now.”

I was very late to the game when it came to Schitt’s Creek. My bestie told me about this little gem of a show about a year ago and when I found it on Netflix I was immediately hooked. Just the premise of the show is hilarious. An uber-rich family loses everything and is forced to live in this dumpy town entitled Schitt’s Creek. I mean, genius. But as I became more engulfed into the show, I started to realize how much I absolutely adore David Rose. I truly believe he’s my spirit animal.

According to Urban Dictionary, a spirit animal is “A person or character that represents your inner personality. Someone who behaves as though they are showing your feelings through their own actions. This is a positive way to describe someone who you relate to in the way they react to situations and interact with people.” David Rose is that for me. I think he’s an exaggeration of my personality. I know what you’re thinking, he’s a pansexual male who was rolling in millions and now has pennies to his name, how on earth can I relate to such an unworldly character. Firstly, we share the exact same fears: moths, butterflies, and heights. Although businesswomen in sneakers don’t exactly frighten me, I could see why it could be frightening for him. Also, I can relate to him because he’s quirky, and a bit over the top, maybe a tad overdramatic. But, he’s also sensitive and sarcastic. He can be stubborn and slightly unapologetic. He is genuine in his words, and upfront with people but never in a mean or hurtful way. In a sense, I think I’d also like to be more like him. He’s charismatic and everyone wants to be his friend. He knows who he is and isn’t afraid to be it. He’s just the coolest, but in a nerdy way, if that makes any sense.

“ew, david”

He’s also just absolutely ridiculous. He uses phrases like “have a blessed day”, and says things like, “I do not have a lot to my name right now, but I do have one thing: taste.” Also, not to get completely off track, but way back in 1941 a man by the name of David Rose married the legendary Judy Garland, and if anyone knows me, they know that she is one of my favorite entertainers of ALL TIME. Coincidence? I think not.

To put it plainly, he’s simply the best.

Have you ever connected with a character so much that you wished they were real and also your BFF at the same time? If so, who? If not, what’s wrong with me? LOL
